In my last post I wrote about ACE Cheer Company’s Matt McCallum and his kidney transplant. Apparently Matt and his donor, the wonderfully generous Kelley Zeringue, got through the surgery successfully which is terrific news!

I’ve been thinking about how else I might help and came up with this idea: As of today, November 13th, I will donate up to 20 of my Mental Game training programs (digital versions) to people who donate at least $27 to the Matt McCallum Kidney Transplant Fund.

This means that if you give $27 or more to the Fund (from today onward) and you let me know and provide a receipt, I will give you one of my training programs for free.

Normally the digital versions of my programs go for $47. You can get them for only $27 (all of which goes to the Fund) and feel good that you have contributed to a very worthy cause.

My two programs are The Mental Game of Cheerleading: Training for Competitions and The Mental Game of Cheerleading: Tryouts! Each program consists of 2 hours of audio instruction plus workbooks filled with mental game exercises, work-sheets and tips.

For more info about the programs, scroll up to the “Cheer Tools” tab and take a peek.

Or – for info on The Mental Game of Cheerleading: Training for Competitions go to http://www.confidentcheerleading.com/competitions/

And for details on The Mental Game of Cheerleading: Tryouts! – go to http://confidentcheerleading.com/competitions/Tryouts.html

We can all help Matt…let’s do it!

Everyone involved with the cheerleading industry knows how kind and generous cheer folks can be. Well, there is an opportunity for you to continue to show the world that the cheerleading industry cares.

Here is the story about a young man named Matt McCallum, ACE Cheer Company and Cheer for a Cause.

Matt McCallum is a much-loved and respected 24 year old coach for ACE Cheer Company who has undergone a kidney transplant today. Matt developed kidney problems as a 7 year old boy and his kidneys failed a few years ago which required him to be on dialysis ever since.

Through it all, Matt has been a devoted cheer coach. What’s really special is that the donor is Kelley Zeringue, wife of ACE co-owner JR Zeringue! Although 100% of the donor’s expenses are covered by the Kidney Donor Fund, Matt’s medical expenses and medications are not covered and are estimated to be $200,000!

ACE teamed up with Cheer for a Cause and kicked off a fundraiser at their Meet the Tribe Showcase in October to help Matt McCallum with the enormous expenses he faces.

Will you help, too? Every little bit helps…it all adds up. A direct donation link to the Fund is on ACE’s home page at http://www.acetribe.com.

JR Zeringue, co-owner of the Gadsden gym, and organizer of the event says, “We would appreciate any help you can offer toward our endeavor to help this young man live a normal life.”

Cheerleading squads have big expenses. There are cheerleading uniforms, pom poms, equipment, travel costs, banners, and much more. Well, here’s a way to earn $2000 for your school and get something for yourself, as well!

How? Enter the Bring it on: Fight to the Finish essay contest! All you have to do is write a 300 word essay about how your cheer program has benefited your community and school. Now 300 words isn’t much. I bet some of you text hundreds and hundreds of words a day! So why not take some time, gather your thoughts, and write them down. Maybe you could enlist a group of your cheer buddies to work together on this.

All submissions will be judged on 3 dimensions: 1) Impact on your community and school; 2) grammar; and 3) clarity of thought.

In addition to the $2000 for your school, you, as the winner, will receive a $500 gift card to Pottery Barn Teen!

Go to this website for full details:

Good luck!

Raising money is a chronic challenge for cheerleaders. Typical ways of raising cash is by selling things such as cookie dough, pizzas, T-shirts, and other items or by hosting car washes and so forth. These methods can be time consuming and may not actually yield much in the way of funds.

My friend, Kristy Hall, is an expert on fund-raising and she has developed some innovative ways of helping organizations raise money – fast!

For example, Kristy helped a non-profit organization called One Home Many Hopes raise over $40,000 in 30 days last fall! I might add that this organization is small and entirely run by volunteers; they have no paid staff and had no budget.

Kristy has produced a complimentary DVD of this successful process in which she describes the exact strategies One Home Many Hopes used to raise over $40,000 in 30 days.

The DVD also describes:

>>How One Home Many Hopes Did This With No Budget, No Paid Staff & Virtually No Database

>>Specific Ways They Implemented the Strategies

>>How Their Strategies Changed Over the 30 Days

>>How They Got Their Team to Reach Out To Their Networks

>>How They Kept Their Team Motivated & Focused for 30 Days

>>Specific Tips You Can Immediately Implement With Your Team

>>How Much Time Is Required to Raise $40k in 30 Days

>>The Step-by-Step Process I took One Home Many Hopes Through to Get Results

>>5 Key Things One Home Many Hopes Did To Succeed – and How You Can Do Them Too!

Kristy is offering this DVD for FREE (you pay only shipping and handling) to anyone who would like one.

Simply go to her website to order yours now!

In my quest to meet cheer coaches and learn more about the sport, I have discovered that finding money to pay for everything from uniforms and equipment to camps and competitions is a huge challenge.

Some schools pay very little to their cheer teams (and coaches!) and so it’s up to the team to dream up ways to raise funds.

I have teamed up with an expert fundraiser to begin to address these problems. This expert, who works exclusively with small non-profit organizations, met with me to record an information-packed interview that provides all sorts of tips on ways to raise money.

The interview will be available within the next week or so, so be sure to stay tuned! In the meantime, feel free to post your questions about fund-raising and I’ll pass them on to get you answers!
